Vacation was wonderful and awesome. I should really take more than one of those every few years... especially since I was technically only off work for one day. And I worked yesterday, too. I blame V. She said I needed a smartphone and I told her once I had one, I'd never be free again. Lo, I have one and I'm never free again. I was making work calls from the baseball stadium and answering emails at Disney.

Yeah. Minor vacation fail.

Other than getting only about 45 minutes of sleep on Friday night - resulting in less than 4 hours from Thursday to Saturday night, the trip got off to a great start. We loaded up the baby, picked up L, and made it in and out of Macon by 5:30. We made it to Orlando at 11:30 and stopped at the outlets.

I bought a few things at the VS outlet, then we went to our hotel. It was *awesome*. The Hilton Bonnet Creek Resort. Our room was plush, the pool was orgasmic, and the weather was unbelievably nice. It was in the mid 80s (and upper 80s) the whole time.

We spent most of Saturday afternoon in the pool, then changed and went to Downtown Disney for dinner. It was interesting - not the actual theme park, but just a strip of restaurants and stores and fun stuff.

The baby was wonderful. He had a great time and fell asleep in the stroller. When we got back to the hotel, the concierge had set up a complimentary cheese tray in our room. it pays to have VIPs make your hotel reservations. :)

V, L and M all went to sleep, but my brain was whirring so fast I couldn't turn it off. So I went down to the hotel bar and read a book and had a few drinks and chatted with people until 1ish. Then I finally went to bed and slept like a log. (Yay, vodka.)

Sunday we got up and ate at the hotel then headed off to the stadium. The ESPN Wide World of Sports is perhaps the most amazing place ever. Perhaps. There's a lot of places I haven't been, but this place was AWESOME.

We tracked down Will Call, which wasn't regular will call, but the players will call, and our tickets weren't there yet. This isn't terribly unusual, though, so we walked through the park and looked around a lot of stuff and basically enjoyed the sunshine. After about 90 minutes, the very nice lady at the will call called me over and said that she'd made arrangments to get us 4 concierge tickets so that we could go inside. Then, when our tickets arrived, she'd bring them to us and let us change seats.

I was pretty floored. I mean, I was able to name drop, but who does this??? So, she went to do that, and while she was back there, she found our tickets instead, so we were able to go to our seats. Umm, our very very very nice seats. We were right behind the Braves dugout on the second row.

We got autographs and Jason Hayward waved at Mattie, who pointed and shouted dramatically, "LOOK! BASEBALL!" and "Jason! Hayward! Right there!!"

We made it to the jumbotron, got about three autographs (including Brian McCann's!) and had a blast. Unfortunately, I got very sunburned, despite using a lot of sunblock. The Braves lost, but it was a lot of fun anyway and we got to watch batting practice and chat with some of the team and stuff, since they were just hanging out and talking to fans.

We hit the pool and Downtown Disney again that night. We ate at the Rain Forest cafe and M was so exhausted that after he ate his corn, he literally put his spoon down and fell asleep in about 5 seconds. Bless his heart.

We went shopping a little bit and I bought earrings I didn't need, but love, and then went back to the hotel. I finished my book and went to bed pretty early, so we could get up and do it all over again the next day.

Day two at the ballpark put us right behind the dugout. We got Freddie Gonzalez' autograph, David Ross and a few others. We got on the jumbotron. We won a $50 gift card at trivia for knowing that Jason Heyward was the last Braves rookie to hit a homerun on his first major league at bat. (We were at that game.)

M and I got filed by somebody and then had to give our permission to be used in Braves media, so I will be keeping my eyes out to see if I make it to a commercial or montage or something. We played the Astros and beat them pretty handily, then hit the road to come home.

We got back at midnight last night.

Today, I am already buried alive with work. The thing about vacations - you're always punished for taking them. I've already met with a client, avoided two phone calls, and have court in two hours. I also have a conference call at noon.

I really need to take a few minutes and put together some sort of To Do list so I'm not scattered across the globe this week.

I hope everyone weathered the storms last night. We saw some of it driving back, but not much. Now, I just need to get my eye to stop twitching and I'm ready to tackle my day!
