Challenge: Thrifty and Skinny
So, I've decided I want to lose 20 lbs by my birthday. I've also decided that I want to a) learn to cook better and b) save money by not eating out so often. So, I've decided to accept a 30 day challenge to cook and eat at home. The Skinny part comes from the recipes that I'm choosing from my Weight Watchers cookbook. :D
With any luck, I'll be successful, but regardless - you folks get to see me blather about it.
I would also like to include a caveat up front that I have a rule that people shouldn't turn the offer of free food - so I would always let someone else buy me dinner/eat at someone else's house, though I'll try and keep the Skinny part going even then.
Tonight, I'm making chicken breasts in the oven. We're also having baked beans (not so skinny, but I've not been to the grocery store - did hit the Farmer's Market though) and I've got salads from 2 various people from this week. One is a coucous salad and one is a hominy salad. Both are low fat and tasty, so I figured some baked beans won't hurt too much.
I made the chicken with a drizzle of olive oil, S&P, a bit of D's bacon salt (kosher, vegan, non-fat), and a bit of cayenne. Hopefully it'll go well with baked beans. :)

Lower your salt intake as much as you can (don't cut it completely). You only need 1500mg a day, and the rest contributes to hypertension, makes you hungrier, makes you gain weight, raises your blood pressure etc etc etc.
Now that I've lectured you, good luck!
