Still Can't Breathe, but Now with Added Irritation

So, I called the doctor this morning to see about getting in to see her. I let them know that I was having asthma-type problems. I let them know that I was uninsured. I let them know that they had been treating me for this since roughly 2001 (same practice, different doctor).

They let me know how much it would cost me to go in.

I laughed in her face and told her I'd take my chances with dying.

So, I've tried to get medical help and for right now it just isn't going to happen.

Such is life.

Whatever. I have sent an email to a doctor friend of mine to ask him whether he thinks I should find the money to go in or not, and I'll go from there.

But even if he says go in, I still have no idea how I'm going to afford it.

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement and thanks for the info on clinics. We'll see what happens, but I think that I'm prepared to just settle back into my old routine of "ride it out, see what happens."

If it gets really bad, I''ll figure something out, but I doubt it will come to that.

Wow, I'm sorry. That's scary that it costs so much. I guess here in Canada we're pretty ignorant when it comes to medical costs, since most of it is covered by our government, but the things that aren't, like dental and eye exams, are pricey.
