You could probably consider this an ode to the Fall Out Boy Song, "Thank for the Memories (Even if They Weren't So Good). This is going to be short and sweet.
I'm thankful for the family that loves me and that I love. I'm thankful that years ago I had the inner strength to move away and set up a life of my own.
I'm thankful for the food we ate. I'm thankful that I've started learning to eat better so that can avoid the health problems that plague my family - type II diabetes being the most prevalent.
I'm thankful for the fact that somewhere along the way, I learned to hear past the shouting to the "But I love you anyway."
I'm thankful that I've learned what I want my life to be, even when it isn't what they want my life to be. I'm thankful that the same spirit of stubborn self-righteousness that gives them the ability to judge, gives me the strength to stand firm.
I am thankful for my family. I love them dearly and they love me. Sometimes, that's enough.
Happy Thanksgiving to those that celebrate.
