LJ Idol 16: Bewize, An Artist's Life
Jan. 16th, 2009 11:03 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Warning: This is not dial up friendly. Also, for readers who are visually impaired, I apologize and hope that my captioned explanations will suffice to help explain what I was attempting to do here.
As a young child, I liked to draw pictures. My mom would put them on the refrigerator, as mothers do. It's really too bad that I was always a terrible artist.
When I grow up, I want to own a white house, with picket fence. There will be a big tree in the front yard. I'll be married, of course, and have two kids, one boy and one girl.

{Home, Sweet Home. I don't know why there is no car, no driveway, no apparent source of electricity or any other modern convenience. But there are flowers! So, hey, it can't be all bad, right? Seriously, I think I wanted to live in Stepford.}

{Family Portrait. Note the scary twin children. I think that perhaps they are possessed. Also, WTF is up with my hair?! And apparently, my pretend husband has a mohawk. Awesome!}
My thirtieth birthday is this year. The big 3 - 0. And I have no idea what I'm doing with my life. I'm a planner. I make plans. And then I carry them out. It's like the connect the dot puzzles that I played as a child. A goes to B, then to C and so forth. It seemed pretty easy, then.
When I'm in high school, I'll have a boyfriend. He'll play baseball. We'll go on dates and then we'll go to college together and get married afterward.

{Kiss. Still with the hair. Also, my imaginary high school boyfriend seems to have some seriously big lips! And no, you don't need to know what's going on behind the censored sign! Tsks you for asking!}
Somewhere along the way, connect the dot puzzles begin to bore me. They were too easy, too predictable. I abandoned them for new games, like word searches. There was still a plan, I could still follow it. I just had to find the words you need, circle them, claim them, make them mine.
LOVE. FAMILY. MARRIAGE. HOUSE. CHILDREN.

{Sorry for the crappy quality, but note the increasing panic in the unsearched for words. *grins* AAAAAAH! Indeed.}
The thing about plans - it's best to have a back up. Heroes always have a plan B.
"Holy shitake mushrooms, Batman! The bad guys wired the bomb into the infrastructure. We can't disarm it!"
"It's okay, Bewize Wonder."
"...how the hell is it okay?!"
"We'll just go to plan B!"

{Bats is my hero. ♥♥♥♥♥}
Plan B, formulated when it became clear that I wouldn't marry my high school sweetheart - or indeed, even have a high school sweetheart, seemed pretty straight forward, as well.
Law school. Find a job. Work hard. Make a good living. I was only 25, there was plenty of time for everything else. 60, 70, 80, 90 hour weeks? Pshaw. They will fall before my awesome superhero-ness and I will prevail. Because this is Plan B.
"Holy everything is going down in flames, Batman! The bomb isn't hardwired to the infrastructure! It's hard wired to me!!"
"It's still okay, Bewize Wonder! We've got Plan C!"
"... we do?"
"Actually, no. Sorry, Bewize Wonder. You're pretty much just fucked."

{WTF?! Bats can kiss my ass!}
My life is nothing like I imagined it.
Sometimes, it's best to take the pages where you've carefully drawn out your plans, carefully marked each step and crumple them up. Throw them away. Set them on fire. Nuke the bastards.

{HAHAHAHAHAHA! Secretly, I am a pyro and love to set things on fire. And then nuke them. Still, I'm strangely pleased with how the fire turned out here.}
Life is what happens while you make plans. I may never get my picket fence ending, but, that's okay. I'm pretty sure that I'll find something else exciting, something different, something right for me.
I'm more of a modern artist anyway.

{Bewize. Self portrait. Ahh, splodies everywhere to cheer me up!}
Yes, I made all of the pictures. Yes, I really am a terrible artist. PH34R my Paint skillz!
This entry was written in response to the
therealljidol Challenge 16: Coloring Outside the Lines. There will (probably) be voting for this week's entries. I will make sure to link to the poll once it is put up and I would appreciate it if you would vote for me if you enjoy my entry. As always, feedback is welcome and appreciated.
I am aware that I have completely cracked. But, whatever the result, I had fun with this entry. And that counts for a lot in my world at the moment.

Date: 2009-01-16 08:24 pm (UTC)Although, I can't help but thinking that the problem with Plan B is that you have the wrong Batman. If you had "The Goddamn Batman" he'd have defused the bomb with pure awesomeness.

Date: 2009-01-18 01:58 am (UTC)Yeah, I had a nurse tell me once that you should say your plans out loud if you want to hear God laugh.
My life is rather different than I imagined it would be, but I try to remember frequently to just "be here now" and enjoy each day for what it is.
